There will be two days of evaluations this year. After the first day, we will make cuts. We will go over those process thoroughly at the Parent Informational Meeting. 

Parent Informational Meeting will be October 13th 5:30 PM-6:30 PM at the new CCJ Gym (5334 Atlanta Highway Montgomery, AL 36109).

For tryouts each player must have an SRVA membership to tryout. It can be either a 2024-2025 tryout membership or a 2024-2025 full membership. Please click this link to purchase your player's SRVA membership.

Any returning CCJ player who now falls into a younger age division (due to USAV changes) will be allowed to try out in the older age division to remain with her peer group from previous seasons.  Please send an email to the club admin indicating your child's intent to try out with the older age division.
If you have signed up for try-outs, but are not receiving emails ... please check your spam folder. 
If your ISP blocks emails from 3rd parties, you will need to provide an alternate email address.

♦ TryOut Information ♦

  • The fee for attending try-outs is $65 
  • The fees is not due until the day of tryouts.  If your child is not 100% certain she will attend, please do not pay in advance.
  • TRY-OUT FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

 


All participants must complete a SRVA Membership (you can either purchase a tryout membership or a full season membership) via https://www.srva.org/page/show/6577558-purchasing-a-membership-instructions. If you do not have an account please create one via the create account button. If you do have a previous season membership please sign in and continue the registration process. ALL ATHLETES WILL HAVE TO SHOW THEIR SRVA MEMBERSHIP CARD TO CHECK-IN FOR TRYOUTS. All players will receive a tryout shirt and number. Please take note of their tryout number because that is the way they will be announced on a team during team postings.


 

♦ Sign-Up to Attend CCJ's Try-Outs ♦

You will need to sign up for try-outs using the "Sign In" link in the upper right corner of this web-site.

NEW families will need to create an account in order to sign up for try-outs.  After the parent has created his/her account, they can then add their dependent(s) to the account.

RETURNING families should verify that all player (position, t-shirt size, and parent information is up-to-date.

 

♦ Complete USAV Membership Application ♦

You must also register your player(s) with USA Volleyball by going to https://user.sportsengine.com/users/sign_in.  
  • Select "MEMBERHISPS" and choose "Returning Members" or "New Members" from the drop-down menu.
  • Registration is via Sports Engine.
  • Click HERE to go directly to the SRVA player registration page.
THE SRVA WEB-SITE HAS DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS SHOWING HOW TO COMPLETE THE REGISTRATION PROCESS.

Be sure to bring a copy of the USAV Membership card with you to tryouts.  

Players will not be allowed to tryout without proof of membership.

♦ Medical Waivers and Birth Certificates ♦

  • We will not collect medical waivers or copies of birth certificates before teams have been selected. 
  • Please do not bring these items to tryouts.

♦ Requests for Financial Assistance ♦

Requests for financial assistance must be turned in on the day of your child's try-out session.  
  • You are required to submit the completed request form and all supporting documentation in order to be considered for assistance.
  • The form can be found in the Related Documents box at the top of this page.
  • Please place the form and supporting documentation in an envelope and give them directly to Smith Ann Burley.
IMPORTANT:  If you will be applying for financial assistance, please be sure to select "reduced fee" option when completing your player's USAV membership.
 

PRACTICES

  • Teams will practice 3 times per week.  
    • Practices Monday-Thursday are closed.
    • Weekday practices are held every day of the week and will be either 5pm-7pm or 7pm-9pm.
    • One practice will likely be on the weekend.  These times vary.
  • Practice days and times will be set after teams are selected.
  • Practices will begin the week of November 30th.

TOURNAMENTS

2024-2025 TENTATIVE Tournament Schedule 
  1. Alabama Icebreaker (Early January Birmingham, AL)
  2. Southeast Qualifier (February 21st-23rd Atlanta, GA)
  3. AAU Super Regional (Dates Vary, Franklin, TN) 
  4. Music City Qualifier (March 15th-17th New Orleans, LA) 
  5. Big South Qualifier (March 28th-30th Atlanta, GA) 
  6. SRVA Regionals (Early May, Atlanta, GA)
This is subject to change, but this is the tenative schedule we are looking at for the 2024-2025 season.
  • The first tournament will typically be in the beginning of January.
  • All teams will play in 6 total tournaments. National teams will go to 2 National Qualifiers.
  • Most tournaments are 2-day tournaments; some are 3-day tournaments.
  • All teams will attend SRVA Regionals in May.
  • Our region consists of locations in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee.  
  • Teams may also travel to Kentucky, Missouri, Lousiana, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and/or Mississippi to attend tournaments.
  • The tournament season will end, for most of our teams, at the SRVA Regionals in May; this tournament will be in Atlanta. 18s will end their season at the end of April. 
  • If your child's team attends Nationals, their season will extend through early July. If 18s National attends Nationals they their season will end at the end of April.

HOTELS

  • CCJ prefers that all families / players stay in the same hotel.
    • This allows the team to react promptly when their are last-minute schedule changes.
  • CCJ does NOT require that players share rooms.  They are allowed to room with their family.
  • Each family is responsible for their child's travel arrangements (transportation, hotel, meals).
  • Team Moms will often secure a block of rooms for the team.
    • If you know that your family will NOT be staying with the team, please let the coach/team mom know before the team mom starts working on hotel blocks.
